There’s not enough coffee in the world. In 2023, the world produced 3% than it consumed. Growing consumer demand in Asia exacerbates the deficit, while climate change affects supply. Coffee is susceptible to heat and drought. It needs predictable conditions to thrive, and conditions now are anything but predictable.

Bleaching affects reefs in Phangnga, Krabi

Seven coral bleaching sites have been found in Moo Koh Surin National Park in Phangnga, and up to 70% of the coral fields around Krabi’s Phi Phi Island also suffer from bleaching problems, the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DMCR) said.

An investigation into the bleaching situation and measurements of the seawater temperatures were conducted on May 12-13. The probe showed that seven coral reef sites in Moo Koh Surin National Park have experienced bleaching of 5%–50%. Continued … 

Coca-Cola and ThaiNamthip Introduce more Bottles Made from 100% Recycled PET

Coca-Cola (Thailand), in collaboration with ThaiNamthip Corp, has taken another step toward plastic packaging circularity. Building on the successful launch of 1-liter bottles made of recycled PET plastic excluding caps and labels in October 2023, Coca-Cola takes another step on its “World Without Waste” strategy by introducing 300ml bottles of Coca-Cola Original Taste and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, made from 100% recycled PET plastic excluding caps and labels.

By introducing bottles made from 100% recycled PET of both 1-liter and 300ml sizes, the company expects to avoid using more than 1,300 tons of new plastic in Thailand in 2024. Continued …
