Aviation Emissions to Skyrocket
Air travel is a growing source of emission globally and clean energy analysts believe that it will be one of the most difficult aspects of decarbonization proposals over the coming decades. Airplane emission projections show how North America is expected to remain the biggest source, while Asian markets will be the fastest growing – especially China and India. The Asia-Pacific market as a whole is estimated to remain the runner-up, but close its gap with North America somewhat.
According to data provided by Bloomberg BNEF, carbon emissions from air travel across all continents are expected to rise over the next three decades. Pre-pandemic, North America produced an estimated 293 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent from aviation emissions in 2019. By 2050, this is estimated to climb to over 440 million metric tons. Move sought for Nakhon Nayok nuclear project
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has recommended that the government relocate a planned 20-megawatt nuclear reactor from Nakhon Nayok and provide more detailed information about the project to the public.
This recommendation follows a petition lodged by the Nakhon Nayok Citizen Assn. in April 2022, which said the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (TINT) may not have adhered to human rights principles in carrying out the project, according to NHRC member Sayamol Kaiyoorawong. Continued …

New oil platform close to startup offshore Thailand
Valeura Energy expects production to begin shortly through the MOPU Nong Yao C in license G11/48 in the Gulf of Thailand. It should increase the company’s share of oil production from the greater Nong Yao area to about 11,000 bbl/d at peak.
Last month, two new infill wells drilled from the Nong Yao A facility came onstream. All six horizontal development wells have been drilled for the new Nong Yao C project, with one of the appraisal wells set to be converted to a seventh producer. Continued …
Thailand’s revolutionary plastic road
Thailand’s Department of Rural Roads is planning to use a revolutionary asphalt grade for repairs to the road connecting Muang District with Nakhon Ratchasima Airport. Recycled plastic waste will be used in the asphalt mix for the 3km road stretch. Work on the section of Highway No 3140 will commence in the third quarter of 2024 and continue until the third quarter of 2025.
This is the first time the use of plastic waste in an asphalt mix will have been trialled in Thailand and its use on a busy stretch of road handling high traffic volumes is highly innovative. The Industry Ministry is working with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and related agencies to draft a plan to assist areas recently contaminated with chemical waste, its boss told media on Monday.
