IRPC, in collaboration with Krung Thai Bank, is advancing the ESG-linked FX Total Solutions Program, enhancing foreign exchange management to support IRPC’s sustainability goals.

Phichin Aphiwantanaporn, senior executive vice president corporate accounting and finance at IRPC, stated, “IRPC focuses on financial management and risk management. We are committed to operating our business following the sustainability management excellence framework, aligning with international standards. Our operations balance social, environmental, and good governance aspects. The company has recently adopted sustainable business guidelines in our exchange rate risk-management policy by initiating the ESG-Linked FX Total Solutions Program in collaboration with Krung Thai Bank to complete an efficient exchange rate risk ecosystem.” Continued … 

Hotels want stimulus for green energy, EV chargers

Hotel operators are pushing for a tax deduction or subsidy for renovation investment, especially for green energy, while the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) suggests hotels in second-tier cities install electric vehicle (EV) chargers to accommodate the growing trend of travel via EVs.

With the Thai Hotels Assn. (THA) scheduled to meet the finance minister soon, THA President Thienprasit Chaiyapatranun said the group would ask for financial stimulus, focusing on enhancing the competitiveness of licensed hotels in Thailand. Continued … 

WHAUP keen on expansion of overseas clean power

WHA Utilities and Power (WHAUP), an arm of Thailand’s biggest industrial land developer and operator WHA Corp., is conducting a due diligence review of the acquisition of new energy assets overseas worth US$200 million, in a bid to expand its renewable energy business.

Energy Absolute, a renewable energy and electric vehicle (EV) developer and operator, has vowed to grow its businesses after suffering a dramatic plunge in its share price.

Philippines’ dependency on coal-fired power surpasses China, Indonesia

The Philippines surpassed Indonesia and China to break into the world’s top 10 economies most dependent on coal-fired power, data from energy think tank Ember showed, underlining the challenges it faces to achieve its green energy goals.

The country’s share of coal in electricity generation rose for the 15th straight year in 2023, the data showed, despite a target to cut dependence on the fuel to less than half of total power output by 2030. Continued … 

Saha Group Partners with DHL to Cut Carbon Emissions

Saha Group, along with its 70 subsidiaries, is partnering with DHL Express to drive sustainability in air freight operations. Through the use of DHL Express’ GoGreen Plus service, Saha Group’s subsidiaries will leverage sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to reduce carbon emissions associated with their air shipments.

This partnership aims to minimize the environmental impact of Saha Group’s logistics activities, with SAF enabling more than an 80% reduction in the lifecycle carbon emissions of air transport shipments. Continued …

EV price war disrupting used car market

The current situation in the automotive market is akin to the industry undergoing a structural transformation, according to Suvit Chobpradu, vice president of the Used Car Dealers Assn. “The shift is from a market dominated by internal combustion engines (ICE) to a rapidly growing role for electric vehicles (EVs),” he pointed out.

These changes inevitably result in casualties, affecting various parties in the supply chain. And the main reason is the continuous and intense price war of EVs.” Continued … 

IEAT to develop Bt2.8 billion estate to focus on EVs, tech

The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) has joined hands with industrial estate developer Hermes Cooperation Co. to co-develop a new estate to support S-curve industries with a budget of 2.8 billion baht.

The complex, named Hermes Industrial Estate, is located in Chon Buri and spans 1,231 rai. The facility expects to serve electric vehicles (EV), smart electronics, data centers, cloud services and medical device industries. Continued …
