The new law, which is scheduled to be forwarded for the cabinet’s approval by the third quarter of this year, imposes a tax on carbon dioxide released from business operations and requires entrepreneurs to collect data on greenhouse gas emissions and report it to the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning. Thailand’s ‘haze season’ always comes back

When the haze season comes, village chief Nanthawat Tiengtrongsakun and his tribesmen start preparing the land for fire.

It’s a slightly sweet gray haze that blurs the mountains in this part of northern Thailand to a faint outline, makes the air itself feel solid and turns breathing and swallowing painful for some.
