‘Environmental Problems and Pollution’ are the Top Concern for Thais
In a study that has been running every year since 2019, Thais were asked to choose their “Top 5 Public Concerns”. In 2024, environment was the top concern chosen by 30% of those surveyed, followed by “rising prices” at 28%.
In fact, it is the same two top concerns as we saw last year in 2023. This is always asked in the context of a range of major public concerns about the country, including other concerns such as corruption, healthcare, traffic congestion, crime and the economy, according to Marketbuzzz’s recent poll. IRPC Secures 5 Billion Baht Sustainability Loan
Somrudee Charoenkrongsakul, acting senior manager of treasury, representing IRPC Public Co., received a 5-billion-baht sustainability loan from Government Savings Bank (GSB). This marks the first instance of a bank incorporating ESG scores in its lending decisions, favoring businesses with positive environmental impacts and promoting green finance.
IRPC received an excellent ESG score due to its responsible business practices toward society, communities, and the environment. Achieving sustainability requires more than just adherence to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, according to Rajeev Peshawaria, CEO of Stewardship Asia Center. Speaking at a conference in Bangkok this week, Peshawaria emphasized that a genuine desire for a better future is crucial.
The ESG framework, which has been around since the 1990s, is proving effective in some areas but is not sufficient on its own. EGAT to launch third floating solar project
The c (EGAT) has announced plans to outsource engineering, procurement and construction firms for the development of a third solar floating project on the Srinagarind Dam reservoir, according to the deputy governor for power plant development and renewable energy.
Thidade Eiamsai said the project is expected to generate 140 megawatts of power, and it will be EGATs third solar floating project. The state enterprise has a 44MW floating solar plant at Sirindhorn Dam in Ubon Ratchathani and another one at Ubol Ratana Dam in Khon Kaen. Continued …

Thai company to help develop first smart power plant in Philippines
A subsidiary of Thailand’s petrochemical giant SCG Chemicals (SCGC) is partnering with one of the Philippines’ major power producers to develop the Southeast Asian country’s first smart power plants, according to a joint statement issued on Thursday.
The collaboration between SCGC subsidiary Repco Nex and the Philippines’ Aboitiz Power Corp. (AboitizPower) is part of the Arkanghel Project agreement, which allows the two companies to work jointly on developing a digital twin model for power plants.
